Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4/8/2026
This policy explains what data FirstUsers collects, why, and what you can do about it. We try to keep this short and plain.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address (used for magic-link login).
- Founder content — startup details you submit (name, tagline, description, logo, screenshots, links, optional offer).
- Waitlist signups — when you join a startup's waitlist or unlock an offer, we record your email plus the time, your approximate location (city / region / country, derived from your IP), referring website, device type, and any UTM parameters in the URL. This data is shared with the founder of that startup.
- Usage events — page views, card impressions, and offer interactions are stored in aggregate to power the dashboard analytics shown to founders. We use these to compute trending sort, conversion rates, and signup velocity.
What we don't collect
- We don't sell your data to advertisers.
- We don't use third-party trackers or pixels by default.
- We don't store full IP addresses long-term (only the geo derived from them).
How long we keep it
We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your account record and any startups you own; aggregated analytics may be retained in a non-identifying form.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies: a session cookie for staying logged in, and an admin cookie for moderation. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
Your rights
If you're in the EU/UK or another region with data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Contact us at hello@firstusers.co and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Third parties
We rely on a small number of trusted services to run FirstUsers: our hosting provider (Vercel), our database provider, an email delivery service for magic links, and (eventually) Stripe for payments. These providers process data on our behalf under their own data protection commitments.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify users via email or a notice on the site.
